Call For Papers: Hierotopy as a Practice of Creating Sacred Spaces (2023. Vol. 5. 1)
Dear colleagues!
The Editorial Board of the Journal of Visual Theology plans to dedicate the next issue (2023. Vol. 5. 1) to the theme of hierotopy as a practice of creating sacred spaces. We invite you to discuss the principles, goals, history and methodology of creating spatial and iconic compositions, as well as the processes of interaction and mutual influence of various genres of hierotopic creativity (iconography, architecture, liturgics, urbanism). Within the framework of the general scientific line of the journal, we propose to investigate both the forms and techniques of constructing spatial ensembles, as well as ways to identify and “read” the content of these compositions. The academician Alexei Lidov kindly agreed to become the scientific editor of the issue. The volume of the text submitted for publication should be from 20,000 to 40,000 characters (with spaces). The materials should correspond the formatting rules of the Journal.
The deadline for accepting materials is April 20, 2023.
